1 | Sports is a Lifetime Commitment #1
(Just running for no reason)
Blog
(One year before the athletics meet I am nowhere near a sporting student, but one year later in the athletic meet I participated in 100m, 1500m, inter-house 4x100m and 4x400m Relay)
After my run today, I was struck with inspiration to write this blog. "Exercise is a Lifetime Commitment." During the pandemic, we had online classes, and in the Physical Education lessons, we could only learn theory, covering topics like sports first aid, sports guidelines, and sports concepts. For someone like me, who wasn't passionate about sports at that time, it was an opportunity to spend time gaming with classmates. (R6S moments!)
When we resumed face-to-face classes in the 2020, a career planning session provided me with a profound insight, a wise word from my career advisor: "Secondary school is a relatively short six years, not too long but not too short, and it's your experiences on campus that are the most valuable treasure of your school journey." Perhaps being away from physical education classes for over a year, I began to reintegrate myself into the subject (even leading to a hospital visit due to overexertion, haha), trying to appreciate this domain that I once didn't quite enjoy.
To be honest, if it weren't for the enthusiastic guidance of our physical education teacher (thanks so much!), even if we only had one physical education class per week, I wouldn't have eagerly anticipated what new activities would be arranged. I remember a casual chat with the teacher when he said, "Your class is good because everyone lies in being willing to try and learn, regardless of your sporting ability. You don't refuse to participate in sports just because you might not be the best at it, and you don't view physical education as a leisure class to kill time." (I used to have biases against sports, considering them as barbaric games, possibly influenced by street culture.) For me, junior form physical education classes were like math classes used for rushing homework and revision, haha.
In reality, my own sports abilities are not exceptional. It's horrible I'll say. Although I've tried various sports, including table tennis, badminton, running, cycling, swimming, and even karting and triathlon, I never consistently engaged and participeted in any sports.
However, slowly getting back into physical education classes and actively participating in sports, even assisting other athletes, all of this happened within just one year.
This year has brought about significant changes in me. The training with track and field team has facilitated more communication with my PE teacher which deepened my understanding of sports so much... (To be continued)
